In the HCG diet you take an amount of drops under the tongue daily for so many days, others opt to do injections.  Aside from the HCG diet drops, dieter’s are advised to lower the calorie intake to just 500 calories a day after the third dose.  However the treatment must stop when the excess weight is lost, since HCG diet only works on stored fat.  Although the diet seems to accomplish its objective, it has many side effects; such as headaches, blood clots, depression and constipation.

You want something that includes meats, vegetables, fruits, dairy, and whole grains for a balanced diet.  The best healthy eating plan for weight loss is going to have each of these things in almost each meal.  The Atkins diet is effective but is heavy on proteins and fats.  It can work if you can do it, but some fall off it way to quickly and gain even more weight back if they go back to their old eating habits.  Only do something like Atkins if you are committing for life, which we all know is hard to do.  If Atkins and the like are not for you, there are other great options.

One of the major side effects of going on the HCG diet is constipation.  When your calorie intake is so low your body is practically starving itself.   With that said it can be difficult meeting your daily nutritional needs resulting in fatigue, nausea and constipation.  When constipated your body does not get rid of waste.  It instead stays in the body even causing infections.  Waste weighs, the expulsion of it in turns lowers your body weight, which is why those who are constipated do not lose weight at all.
